Ugly Stuff

Zom over at the wonderful blog Pinch Me To See If You Are Dreaming challenged her readers this week to post their ugly art journal pages.

Yes, I know. Kind of scary!

But lately, I've been LOVEn my art journal that you see in my Art Journal LOVE videos....and I've had this journal for quite awhile. I will admit, there were quite a few ugly pages in there--but I've been painting over them regularly. Here are the next two on my list to paint over. I think they're not as much ugly...as just.... well....yeah....BORING..... and a bit UGLY.

Peace & Love.

I don't think they're ugly, I think they're just different for you. Your AJ colors are usually cool colors, whereas these are warm. Nonetheless, posting "ugly art" is liberating. I've never considered myself to be a visual artist, but joining the dreamboard circle with Jamie has been transformational. I put it out there, ugly or not, and the process has made me more confident in other areas of my life. But I'd better stop here or I'll give away my end-of-year post (unless the universe takes over and I end up writing something else). :-D

Thank you Connie! I knew you would play!

Something I find really interesting about this challenge is how often we disagree on what is ugly.

When I come up with pages I don't like, I find it a lot of fun to keep going. I can't remember a page that I actually painted over (of course that is always an option). I would love to see what happens if you keep going on the top page.

As for the bottom page, there is a lot of interesting action happening there. After I clicked on it, I was fascinated by all the layers and bits.
By the way, you have great handwriting.

Thanks again for playing. You're a sweetheart.
