This is AWESOME!! Your comments after...Oh my. Yes, EXACTLY.
To face that fear so you can feel the wind and know that a fall is just another practice so you can feel more confident next time as the wind is whipping around and things seem so unsteady and you know how to handle them this time and and and....
Oh, sister, this is exactly what i needed to see this morning (and maybe every morning?) Talk about a perfect example of it being the journey, not the destination (but what a thrill to arrive after all that effort!)
this evoked memories of an Outward Bound trip I took 13 years ago? a women only trip in Joshua Tree where i rock climbed and rappelled for the first time. that rappel down a high tower of rock was absolutely amazing ... i thought i would be scared out of my mind but it was such a thrilling experience of being 100 percent awake and alive ... for some reason, i was singing Across the Universe as I climbed down, pausing to look over my shoulder at the magnificent and awe inspiring view that i was a part of (a small, small speck, but a part of it!)
oh, yeah ... feeling really good right now. a wonderful reminder of why i practice to stay awake and present. good gracious YES!
I love this. I've been thinking a lot about this lately. Why do I always feel in a hurry to get somewhere or to figure something out or achieve something? Once we achieve that thing, life will continue. When I watched the video, I wondered what happened after she crossed the highline. She either had to turn around and cross back or she had to climb down that giant rock! Either way, there was more journey ahead of her.
Anyway, thanks for this. And for the reminder that it's all practice.
There is a Dutch movement called 'Loesje', they plaster white posters with black texts all over town. Texts that are meant to make you think, or smile. And the one that fits your blog post perfectly translates like this:
Falling does not equal failure, refusing to get up does.
