Dear Friends of Dirty Footprints Studio,
I desperately need your help. At first, I wasn't going to mention this online, because I didn't want to embarrass Hansel...but after great thought.....I realized that it is not our fault...and we have nothing to be embarrassed of....instead, we like many of you I'm sure....live with a trusting, open heart and believe that others do as well.
Last night Hansel and I went dancing. Yep--salsa dancing at some friends house. When we got home we were so high off of dancing bliss that for the FIRST TIME EVER Hansel forgot his camera and tri-pod in the back of our car.
That is why we were so horribly disappointed and hurt to wake up this morning to learn that some bozo broke into our car purposely to steal Hansel's camera and tripod. Now--because of a high deductible on our insurance Hansel is out of a camera and we are forced to pay $250 to fix our window.
I have been a mess about this all day.
Honestly, I don't care about the freaking window. What breaks my heart is that Hansel lost his beloved camera.
Just a few months ago Hansel too made a decision that it was time to start following his heart and take his passions more seriously. He worked extra hard and also sold some prized possession so he could purchase THIS CAMERA and a new laptop to begin his journey into studying Photography. This was a huge deal to Hansel and photography is something that he LOVES and ADORES...possibly as much if not more then he LOVES and adores me!!!
Dear, dear, dear friends of Dirty Footprints Studio...I'm desperate for your help. Could you please chip in to help Hansel buy another camera to follow his dreams. I know I'm really going out on a limb here...but if you are a regular here at Dirty Footprints Studio you can go through many of my posts and see the tons of photos Hansel takes. HE IS AWESOME!!
Here's the thing.....I am going to give away THREE GIFTS to THREE generous individuals that help chip in. It doesn't matter if you chip in $1 or a $100--after you chip in please leave a comment below saying you did and your name will be entered into a raffle. If you are one of the three lucky winners you may choose between the gifts below:
1. FREE Registration to Art Journal LOVE Letters
2. A Little LOVELY found in my Etsy Shop HERE
3. A Little LOVELY commission like the one I created HERE
All you need to do is hit the Chip In Button below and donate what you can. After you do so please leave a comment stating you did--and you will be entered into the raffle. I will be choosing names on Saturday, June 4th---unless we hit $400 sooner--I will choose then.
Anything you can do to help would mean the world to us....including blogging, tweeting, and Facebooking about this raffle to your friends.
I thank you from the bottom of my Creative Juicy heart.
Big hugs,
Connie

Oh NOES! I feel your pain - to lose something like that is devastating. I can't afford much, but hopefully every bit helps....
I contributed what I could now... and will contribute more as I'm able.
Hey Sweeties!
i did what i could to help you realize your juicy creative dreams.

I would be SO devastated. My camera has become an extension of myself. I hope you reach your goal dear:)
What a craptastic thing to happen. I sent a little, and RT'd too.
I don't have a lot to give, but I did what I could... I hope it helps. Someday when I have a passion I hope that I can find my way as clearly as you and Hansel
I can't donate alot to the camera fund but I did donate. I have to help artist's when I can. I am so sorry about the camera and the window. The thieves will get paid back someday. I had my car broke into twice in a year in my driveway. It just makes you sad. Hopefully Hansel will get a new camera soon. You might want to check the pawn shops close by.... Sharon
Hi to you and Hansel, Connie. I am so sorry that you had to be witnesses to the crappier part of humanity. I hope the funds add up quickly. I know there is a lot of love our there for you both.
Cheers !
(I made a little donation to the cause - got you over the first $100.00 HURDLE ! - yAY !)
I'm heartbroken for you guys. He does such beautiful, wonderful things with that camera. I hope you guys can replace it very soon. All my love and happy, positive thoughts. :-)
I made a little donation, too! I'm sorry we can't afford much! I would buy him a brand new camera if I could. I hate the lack of consideration/humanity/morals/values that accompanies theft...or any kind of violation. Maybe Hansel's new camera will mean even more to him now, knowing that it comes along with the love of not only the two of you and your mutually supportive, passionate life...but with the love and support of all the creative people who donate!
oh darling, this breaks my heart! i don't know what kind of car you have but you should look into the local junk yards to see if they have a window & put it in yourselves.
something similar happened recently to my car - wasn't broken into but the window had been hit by a rock or something and it was all spider-webbed and when ryan shut the car door... well, you know the rest of the story ;) anyways, the moral of my drawn out story IS that you might be able to get it replaced cheaper if you are willing to do the legwork AND fix it yourself :)
wishing you & the sweet hansel tons of luck & hugs for your mishap. :)
Oh Connie...I am so sorry for Hansel. Please let him know that because of you, we love him, too. I know my little (sorry it's little but you know how it is) is a weird amount but it was the balance in my Paypal...it's yours. Love you much, girlie!
Peace & Love,
~Barb~
This so sucks! But its awesome that community is coming together to help out! I can't send you anything until tuesday! Waiting for checks to come in, but when they do, I will have a little something for Hansel!
Hi Connie,
So sorry about Hansel's camera. It's good that you reached out to us. I made a contribution as "Discovery Reiki" in case you're wondering who that is. Looks like you're more than half way there in one evening. So rest easy. It will come!
i'm soo very sure you will be shopping for a camera by sunday. :)
'sigh'.. lotsa good amongst some bad....
xxo, kim
Of course we will help! I'm so glad you shared this so that we can work together.
My camera is old and kind of crappy, but I would be so sad to lose it. I can imagine how Hansel felt losing this nice one! :(
But not to worry - clearly he'll have the funds to replace it in a matter of days. YAY!!
Ohmyyy! Why can't people just leave other people's stuff alone?? I made a little donation too, and will Tweet about this! Hope he'll have the money to get himself a new camera soon, even though it will never replace what he had... Take care!!
Oh my gosh Connie, that's just awful. Wish I could do more to help. I hope you reach $400 today!
xo,
Carmen
Mister Hansel will be taking pictures in no time!
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, Connie! I saw that you were just under $30 from your goal, so that's what I donated. I'd be so devastated if I lost my camera. I hope Hansel loves his new one just as much! So much love for you both!
You'd already gotten 100% by the time I got to a computer (aren't people great?), but I threw in a little extra 'cause I love you and thought Hansel might also need to replace the tripod or bag or whatever.
i chipped in! i know how much it hurts to be without your camera. xox
that is NO way to begin a brand
new day
but very soon you can go shopping together for your brand new camera:)
and i just wished to say you have the most gorgeous and uplifting banner
I am in with the rest. You make my heart sing. I love knowing that pictures taken will be a tiny bit because of me.
Connie - I was SO devastated to hear about this....I have contributed not much, unfortunately, but what I can at this point. Hansel deserves so much more.
I do have something else to offer...it is not as nice of a camera as the one he previously had, but I do have an extra camera that I would be happy to send your way. It isn't a DLSR, but it does have several features of one. (I purchased it as a backup for my own.) I'll email you more details....
Please let Hansel know that we are ALL impressed with his photography skills and will do whatever it takes to make sure he has the tools to pursue that talent!!
I made a little contribution, can't afford much. Even though it was just a small amount know that it comes with lots and lots of love.
What happened sucks ...
what is happening here, i know you realize, rocks.
are you feeling the love? you do realize it is a mirror of the love you are putting out ...
i hope my small contribution can go towards an extra lens :)
love & hugs
Lis
(whenever i've been rob - oh yeah, wallet stolen 3 times - i try to remember, it must be horrible going through life believing you have to steal ...
a camera was stolen but not our love!)
I found out about your post via Jamie Ridler :) I keep a little paypal fund for just such emergencies. I can't chip in much, but I've made a contribution!! Good luck! I'm sorry for the rotten thing that happened, but look at all the love because of it!! :)
What blessing to read all the wonderful comments and see the support that you have rec'd.
What wonderful community of artists!
Glad to help, too.
Sheila
I just logged in and saw the link from Facebook, that is such a horrible thing to happen. I went to chipin but it said event ended, how amazing the support out here..
Sending you virutal hugs.
Karen
So this morning I was just thinking... Hansel should ask for the exact camera he wants. Maybe its this one, or maybe its another one... but its time to dream big and TOTALLY put it out there! We will all support the dream.
I'm sending in a couple of extra writing assignments today to send Hansel a little bit more!
aargh, I just read this and your chip in is closed. For all the good you put into the world, it does not surprise me at all!
woops, that was not a complete sentence... that would be: not a surprise at all that you got so many donations -- not that the camera was stolen!!!
I was so touched by the response! The ChipIn ended before I got here, but I wanted to touch base with you anyway. A few years ago, our car was broken into when I left my school backpack in it. My whole scholastic life, GONE! I was a wreck for a couple of days. My point is, I know how you all feel that someone did this to you. I'm so sorry that it happened, but I'm moved by the response from your community. Blessings to you both!
