What Brings You Wonder

Just recently my friend Tiffany Jones shared this video with me. I think it's quite an inspiration. Here are some of the main points the speaker, Graphic Artist, Marian Bantjes says....

--The humble attempt to make a living out of something I LOVE.

--The appeal of what I do is connected to why I do it.

--My work follows my heart and my interest and is guided by the ego.

--The more I deal with my work as something personal, the more successful it is.

--Does it bring joy? Is there a sense of wonder? Does it invoke curiosity?

--What is worth while?

--Who is it for? What does it say? What does it do?

--Inspiration is cross pollenating.

I wonder who invented the car horn as a way for us to vent frustration or do a double beep - a happy little beep - when we drive away from ones we love.

I wonder why we have this feeling that we have to help others "grow up" when the most interesting, imaginative thoughts and questions we have begin when our life begins.

I wonder how it is that you continue to enrich my life is such deeply meaningful ways each and every day.

This video came at just the right moment. As I turn over the ideas of art, words, literature, and more Marian Bantjes makes me open myself and my work to a larger "inquiry of the mind." I find myself obsessed with the ideas of wonder, curiosity and joy.

Whether we are visual artists, writers, songwriters, etc. we are the storytellers of our heart and of our time. We are sharing the experience of life - on an individual basis and a collective one. Wonder - to me - is the key to this life. Armed with wonder, we are explorers who hold the power to step deeper into the world around us and develop or help others develop unconventional and perhaps life changing ideas.

I'm so inspiring right now I wonder if I will just explode into a big ball of confetti.
