Be Who You Are

My dreads are a little over five months old.And they have taught me so much about myself.
About having courage to be truly who I am
To let go of having to fit in.
And to manifest compassion for those that speak rudelybecause they don't understandwhat it is to be free--
To live lifeinside the expanding landscape of the open heartinstead of trapped inside society's narrow minded box.
Be who you are.And be it fully.
Don't let anyone tell you that you can't.Don't let their stares or fair warnings discourage you.
You live in your world. Not their's.

Do I understand dreads? No but I don't understand why people get wax jobs or buy $100 jeans either. I only understand me and that only partly so how can I stand in judgement of anyone else even if, especially if, they do something differently than I do? To me, unless its a permanently life-altering thing, big deal. Enjoy your dreads!! I will probably stare if I see them but that's my curiosity, not my judgement showing.
hello Connie, it's very inspiring how you use your dreads as a symbol of who you are, dare to be. It fits in with the way you use your blog in showing what you do. I mean the free way in which you show us your art no matter what it is: writing, photographs, paintings. It is vulnarable and because of thet so beautiful. Thank you! Greetings, Mariska
To live, and let live...
To be heard from within...
To be understood, not judged...
follow your own path, you will get there faster :]
LOVE this post!
Inspiring words! I am just starting to realise how important it is to be myself, and I am trying to learn how to let go and stop taking life so seriously! These words were just what I needed to read, so thank you... :D
Great post!!!!
Could you share your dread routine? Mine are 4 months and don't look any where close to dreads yet LOL. I don't know a single person in real life that has dreads and I have not been bold enough to step out and show mine yet :( Its an inner struggle I am dealing with,, but I know that for me dreads are the right choice!
I just posted a painting yesterday with the same title as your blog post.
The time must be ripe for us to be who we are.

Great words! And thank you for bringing so much color and inspiration into my world! ;-)
I inhale your words...deeply.
They swirl around my heart and begin to dance wildly within...like electricity they pulse through my being...and I want to shout, "I LOVE ME!"
The power of the dreads...of your words...it sends ripples far into the Universe that cause judgment to melt into small puddles of fear that evaporate in the bright light of freedom...there is a need for an embrace.
Love this! Exactly what I needed to read today. Thank you!! =)
love these words!
Connie - You are BEAUTIFUL !! truly (I've seen the pics of you WOW )in whatever you chose - I am a 58 oops, 59 (2/9/52) year old woman and though I am overweight due to a medication problem (excuse?) ! I wear what I love - my hair's red and I laugh (mostly at myself!) and smile a lot! Life is the shortest train ride we'll ever be on no matter when it ends - so if you don't enjoy it no one will for you - I also love your blog, your art & now your photos & always your dreads though your face is quite beautiful, too!
Just found your blog and FB page....love your work, your words, your spirit, your joy and the beauty you share. xo
