Welcome To Day Three of Art Journal Wisdom!
My first 21 SECRETS art journaling workshop came out in early 2010. Can you believe it?
And in that very first 21 SECRETS I taught a workshop called Get It Out, Get It Down where I guided artists in creating a textural FEARLESS® art journal page that also incorporated some private journal writing in a more safe and discreet way.
Journal writing is such a powerful way of getting all the junky junk out of our system. Creativity Goddess Julia Cameron was the first to coin “morning pages” that swept the world with a frenzy! Basically morning pages are where you wake up and vomit write three pages of whatever comes to you….preferably done in the morning of course. This practice is a great way to help gain clarity and to let go of some of that junky junk that’s cluttering our mind.
Personally, I’ve never been a real big fan of Julia Cameron’s morning pages. Instead I’ve incorporated my own art journal version of morning pages that I’ll share more with you about later on in this workshop.
Until then, let’s take a look at how we can marry FEARLESS® Painting, texture, and journal writing into a beautiful art journaling experience.
Like I said, what’s great about this workshop Get It Out, Get It Down is that the writing part becomes a bit discreet. So you can write your deepest secrets and not worry about it being exposed. There’s something comforting and even a bit empowering in that — isn’t there?
Straight from the 21 SECRETS archives I’d like to share with you Get It Out, Get It Down today.
Happy art journaling!
