Six Months Ago I Sketched This Too

SixMonths1

Yesterday I shared with you a pair of sketches I did six months apart.

Today I thought I’d share a few other sketches that I did six months ago as well — in the same sketchbook.

SixMonths2

SixMonthsCollage2The sketch above is really dear to my heart.  Simply because of Phoenix’s marks on the right page.

(He has this tendency to sneak into my studio when I’m not looking and help himself to supplies.)

Overall, I feel they compliment each other beautifully. It’s probably one of my most cherished sketches actually.

At first I was going to say I don’t know why I didn’t share these sketches with you last year. But I do know why.

Last year was rough.

And for me, especially when I am navigating through intensity, I need some space between what comes pouring from my heart and what I choose to share publicly.  Even if it’s only a seashell and some scribbles.

What’s also kind of interesting to me is that these sketches caught my attention again now — when the artists and I in my IGNITE program are finishing up the Water Cycle — the first quarter of this year long journey.

Art has an interesting way of staying in the conversation — now doesn’t it?
